When I was approached by Brianna from Forget-me-not Patterns asking me if I could make up their Lola Pattern as part of their pattern relaunch I was very flattered and as soon as I saw the Lola Pattern I had to say yes.  It is such a lovely pattern with interesting details.  It was defiantly the frill on the back that sold it to me, I am a person who loves looking for interesting details in me made clothing and this was one that really appealed to me!

I decided to make the top version first, I already had the Gingham fabric in my fabric stash.  This one was from Fabric Godmother and it is the most beautiful viscose gingham.  I did play around with the direction of the gingham on the back yoke and I am pleased with how it looks.  I love the ruffle on the back, it is such a beautiful detail. This is a very versatile top that I can see myself wearing a lot.  It is one of those styles that can be worn dressed up fancy with a lovely skirt and heels or totally casual with jeans or a denim skirt and trainers.

I decided I wanted to make the dress as well because I really loved the top so I looked online for the perfect fabric and... I found it.  This fruity cotton lawn fabric is from the amazing shop Hey Sew Sister it had the perfect summery vibe that I was looking for!  The only thing I was not sure of was with such a busy print would the ruffle at the back stand out?  So I decided to use some of the pink viscose gingham as the ruffle.  At first I thought I may have been creating something that resembles a table cloth.  But I am really happy with the combination and the overall look of the dress and ruffle as the ruffle really stands out.  I think the gingham makes it look more summery which makes me happy.

I also added the 'Gemma Tie Belt' to the dress, if you know me you will know I love a waist tie! The dress on its own is actually really flattering though so it doesn't really need one.

The Gemma Tie Belt is a free pattern on the Forget-Me-not Patterns website it is super quick to make and really lovely to wear.  I can't wait to pair this belt with other items in my wardrobe and also make some other versions in different fabrics.

I think it is safe to say I am a fan of the Lola Top and Dress but also the Forget-me-not patterns actual pattern construction too.

What I love about Forget-me-not Patterns is they have three different bust fitting options.  I didn't really have to check (but I did just in case) I went straight for the smallest bust option and I am super happy with the fit of both the top and the dress across the bust, which is something I often have to alter so it was great not to have to do it this time.

I did actually wear the Lola Dress to the sea side, I wore it to Camber Sands.  It was a very sunny but very blustery day so this was the best photo that was taken. It really is the perfect sun dress for picnics in parks or lovely beach days.

The final details are the amazing labels from Hey Sew Sister.  I love these labels so much, I don't think I have worked my way trough a packet  of labels so quickly before.

Thank you for reading.
