This is the second version of the Ness Skirt I have made. As I am visiting New Zealand in August (I am treating myself to a second winter this year because the winter in London wasn't long enough) so I was thinking of how I could make a few items that would layer well with leggings/long sleeve tops and also that I could enjoy in Summer here before I leave. Then I thought the ness skirt would be a good idea, I had 1m of stretch denim that had been in my fabric stash for a quite a while so I decided to go for it.
The last Ness Skirt I made was a floral one which I still love and wear but as it is floral I feel like I have to mainly wear plain tops with it. I really liked the idea of a denim one that I could wear with any colour/patterned T-shirt that I choose.
Here is my Ness Skirt made up in a stretch denim fabric. I am wearing it with a Tilly and the Buttons Marigold Jumpsuit I have hacked into a top (I have a few of these tops and I really enjoy wearing them in Summer).
The pattern itself is not too difficult to make. The most challenging part is the zip fly. I have constructed a zip fly in the previous Ness Skirt and also in pairs of jeans too so I did have to follow the instructions quite carefully as it has been a while and there are quite a few different steps. After following the steps carefully it was all okay and I was pleased with the outcome. As the skirt itself and the pattern pieces are quite small it does come together quite quickly and it is an enjoyable make.
A photo from further away to give more of an idea of the skirt length.

I am trying to really focus on the inside of my garments being as well finished as the outside. The theory behind that is that the garment will last longer and will also look good too. I decided to use this Liberty cotton print for the pocket bags of the skirt and I decided to have the right side of the fabric showing inside just to add a little extra special detail.
I also decided to use the Hey Sew Sister 'Indie Mix Tape - Vol 1' labels on this skirt as well. I used the 'She Moves in her Own Way' label inside and the 'Have a Nice Day' on the back pocket as I thought it was a fun little detail to add to the back pocket.
I can see myself getting lots of wear out of this skirt in the Summer and the Winter, I used to wear denim skirts a lot in the past but it has been a while since I have owned one so I am excited to find new combinations and interesting ways to wear this one.
Thank you for Reading.
